3 hrs= taking pictures

9 hrs= creating compositions

4 hrs= buying, cutting, and matting pieces on matt board

6 hrs.= Completing Compositions

I fixed a couple compositions, as well as completed a few new ones. This includes new pictures and insecurity sheets.

3 hrs.= Deciding on New Matting Idea, Sketching, and Shopping

I decided that for my final critique I will have at least 20 compositions completed; however, I will either only matt and hang 9 or 16 so that they are hung in a perfect square.

TIME LOG 12

3 hrs= Photos

I spent a couple planning times to photograph subjects.  Each person was in multiple photos with different layouts and lighting.

7 hrs= Painting, Drawing, Transferring, Coloring

I took the drawings and the personal “insecurities” sheets and created different compositions.

1 hr= Planning final layout and finalizing a specific technique to unify the compositions

3.5 hrs= PHOTOS

I took time to set up meetings with the people posing in the photos, thought about compositions, and narrowed down different photos and figured out the most effective ones.

5 hrs= DRAWINGS

I tried out a couple different techniques and different mediums.  I continued to  used the same color palate (red, black, brown) in the compositions i completed.

1.5 hrs= EQUIPMENT

I went shopping for more wintergreen oil, pastel pencils, more ink, charcoal, and sharpies. I also looked into different paper to mount or to create them on.

10 hrs= Creating 6 completed compositions

I used transfers and multi-mediums to create both the portraits and their environments

1 hr= Taking 2 Photos for Upcoming Compositions

2 hrs= Setting up Times for Photo-shoots, Getting Insecurities Sheets, and thinking about compositions and layouts

TOTAL HOURS= 13 hrs

1.5 hrs.= Thumbnail sketches for layouts of compositions from photos

2 hrs.= Going to a couple different stores looking for wintergreen oil for the transfers.

2 hrs.= Setting up times for photo-shoots from insecurities sheets already obtained.

TOTAL HRS.= 5.5 hrs.

4 hrs= Drawing and thinking about layouts

3 hrs= Taking Pictures and Matching Fears/Insecurities with Composition

2 hrs= Talking to Classmates and Art Majors about Project and This Views

2 hrs= Getting More Insecurities Sheets done

4 Hrs= Talking to People and Getting them to Fill out “Insecurities Sheets”

I talked to 6 to 8 people who filled out the sheets.  I told them about the project and how i needed them to go about filling out the sheet.  We also discussed how they saw their insecurities being portrayed.

3 Hrs= Taking the Photographs and Deciding on Compositions

Each person is set up differently and I am trying to portray both the emotion and the fear at the same time through one image.  Some people took a lot longer to get them in the “mood” for their shot; however, others were very cooperative and caught on very quickly.

2 Hrs= Thinking about layout of Compositions and overall layout of project

I spent time thinking about dimensions of the hallway and the construction of the mirror.  I thought about lighting and the possibility of the viewer carrying their own lantern, that way they could only light up the area around them and are forced to lean in with the lantern to look at each piece individually. 

1 Hr= Research

I looked on the internet at portraits and art series.

3 hrs. Research

Searched to look up insecurities and emotions that relate.  Most seemed to be “emo” girls and guys that were wearing all black.

4 hrs. Talking

I talked to people about their insecurities, got them to start thinking about emotions that relate, and my personal insecurities and how they effect me.

I have been thinking about if i want put my self portraits into the mix and if so how many.

3 hrs. Drawing

I drew and wrote about my own personal insecurities. Thought about compositional ideas and construction techniques.

1 Hr= Final Project Conceptions

I thought about ideas for “subject matter” for the overall project.  How can I use each person’s personal objects to exemplify their insecurities.  A lot of guys had problems opening up and revealing their insecurities and it lead to more things related to fears and the emotions that come from those.

2 Hrs= Taking Pictures

I took multiple pictures at different angles and lighting of that represent different fears.  I tried different positions of their hands, head, and face to help the viewer understand the emotions.

6 hrs= Drawing the Portraits

I used charcoal (sticks, pencils, and vine) to create the portraits.

1 hr= Insecurities Sheets
